Dear Knights of Columbus Family of Texas,
On behalf of the Houston Convention Committee, we are
pleased to invite you to the 117th Annual State “Texas Strong” Convention
to be held in Houston, April 30 to May 2, 2021.
Once again, The Hilton of the Americas is the host hotel located in one
of the most beautiful downtowns in the United States. We have held several conventions in this
beautiful hotel and assure you and yours this will be one to remember. We are
planning to raise the bar with this convention, adding more fun and exciting fellowship
and spiritual time. Despite the
challenges of COVID-19, we will recognize all the great accomplishments from
this past year and plan for the future of our great state.
For all golfers (men & women), a World Class Golf
Tournament has been planned at one of the Most Beautiful Golf Courses in
Houston Friday morning. Learn how you can win the 1st State “Knights
of Columbus Bishop’s Cup” for your Diocese! There will also be a Clergy
Luncheon Seminar for all council chaplains, pastors and deacons. Please encourage them to attend with
you.
For the second time, the Houston Convention Committee is
hosting the Friday Night Welcome Party “Rodeo Style” at Discovery Green, the exquisite
outdoor area across the street from Hilton of the Americas. We expect this to
be even a better and bigger blast than last convention for all in attendance
filled with new surprises. Live Music, food,
and beverages will be available all at a nominal cost of $20.00 per person.
Children under 10 are free! Yes, this is a KC family event!
Before the action starts on Saturday, we are hosting the
State Convention Fun Run/Walk for those “KC Active Walker and Joggers” at a
cost of $10 per person. All participants will receive a “Texas Strong Victory
Towel”, drinks, snacks and more!
We are extremely honored to have His Eminence Daniel
Cardinal DiNardo celebrate our Opening Mass Saturday morning. The Adoration Chapel will open following Mass
and remain open until Sunday morning at 6 a.m.
Our meetings will begin Saturday morning after Mass. The ladies are invited to a luncheon Saturday
to meet old friends and make new ones.
The State Banquet will be held Saturday evening.
The Memorial Mass Sunday morning will be celebrated by our
State Chaplain, His Excellency Brendan Cahill, Bishop of the Victoria Diocese
and Houston Hometown Hero. The ladies
are then invited to a breakfast Sunday morning while the men are meeting and
conducting election of State Officers.
Please consider placing an ad in our Convention Book. Councils, CDA courts, businesses and
individuals are invited to recognize your organization, or honor a member or
members.
We look forward to hosting you as we celebrate our State
Deputy Alfredo Vela’s theme of “Be Not Afraid” How appropriate this theme has
been during this most challenging time in our world!
Vivat Jesus!
